UNITED RELIEF LIVE, FIXTURE CHANGES & MUDSA Annual Bowling Challenge

The match v Fulham has now been arranged for Sunday, 14th March and kicks off at 1.30 pm.

UNITED RELIEF LIVE: THE BIG RED DAY OUT

Manchester United and the Foundation are teaming up with Sport Relief for a unique fundraising event on 1st May 2010. The event will start on the pitch at 1400 and activities will close at 1700.

This is a great opportunity for two iconic brands to work together to provide real help to people in need. United Relief Live: The Big Red Day Out will be a one-off celebrity packed day to raise money for Sport Relief and the Manchester United Foundation.

The un-missable event will mix music with celebrities and legends playing football in one unforgettable day out.

The day will kick off with a pre-match concert featuring some of the hottest names in pop and rock, with performances guaranteed to get everyone warmed up and in the mood for a party on the pitch.

One of the highlights of the day will be a friendly match between a Manchester United XI and The Rivals featuring legends and celebrities from Manchester United and some of their greatest rivals. This unique game will give supporters a chance to see some of their heroes back in the shirt again, as well as a rare opportunity to see the skills of some non-footballing big names. Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Denis Irwin, Andy Ritchie and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will be playing for the Reds.

Post match entertainment will be provided in the form of a gala dinner, complete with guest speakers and an auction of money-can’t-buy prizes.

The money raised by the event will go to fund the crucial work of the Manchester United Foundation and Sport Relief.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £5 for child in the ordinary stand seating and, as agreed and in line with Club policy, disabled supporters will book their places through the usual channels but the phone-in procedure for wheelchair users and visually impaired supporters will not be in operation; this event will be open to all applicants who can apply by email or by phone during normal business hours.

Although a significant number of disabled supporters will not be charged admission to the event, MUDSA representatives will be attending the event and hoping to receive a donation from members attending within a general guideline of £5 per person but anyone wishing to donate a bit more will be greeted with a big smile!

Kevin Cahill, CEO of Comic Relief said: “Coming at the end of the season United Relief Live: The Big Red Day Out is the perfect way to raise crucially important cash and at the same time give fans an exciting family day out. The emphasis will be on fun and entertainment with a bit of healthy competition thrown in. Sport Relief is thrilled to be partnering with the Manchester United Foundation in this great event”.

John Shiels, Chief Executive of the Manchester United Foundation, said: “Sport Relief is a thriving and well respected charity and Manchester United is one of the most successful football clubs in the world. This is a great opportunity for two iconic brands to work together to provide real help to people in need. The event will appeal to everyone; families, young people and football fans with the mix of music and football. For United fans, they have the chance to see some of their heroes back in a Manchester United shirt and with a major concert on the same day, it should be a real day to remember.”

We look forward to seeing you there.

Phone-in & General Enquiry Times

Some members have complained about getting through to the answerphone when using the phone-in procedure...the complaints are normally based on the cost so we have attempted to try and introduce a system whereby each caller will only get the engaged tone if someone else is on the line. In discussions with our Telecom provider we have now succeeded in doing this and, just to prove that all things don't always agree with everyone, complaints have already been received. Nevertheless, could I ask each member to persevere with the perceived better system and let us know if you encounter any significant difficulties.

We are trying to improve our service all the time and, as such, we have now extended the general enquiry times on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday......you can now call between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm on those days and you may possibly be speaking to our new assistant, Jan, whom we are pleased to introduce to you in the first issue of Rollin' Reds for this season. The 3.00-5.00 general enquiry slot still remains in place on Mondays and Tuesdays. As ever, you can always contact us by email on disability@manutd.co.uk

2009-10 INFORMATION BOOKLET

The new Disabled Supporters' Information Booklet for the 2009-10 season has now been distributed to all members. Procedures are unchanged with the exception of requesting members to complete forms online wherever possible, especially the database form. Also, please be aware that if you are applying for away matches it's now possible to provide us with your credit card details instead of sending cheques (a small surcharge of 3% would be applied if credit card is used).

MUDSA Ability Suite

HALF-TIME PRE-ORDERING

There is always going to be something that needs fine-tuning and the queues for refreshments in the Ability Suite have often been cause for comment. In an attempt to improve the speed of service, we have now introduced 'half-time pre-ordering' and you will now be able to see that there are small slips dotted around the Ability Suite explaining how it works. We hope that you will soon see a difference at half-time and thanks for your cooperation in helping to make this work.

Did you know???? This coming year is going to be a celebratory one; MUDSA will be 20 years old at the Christmas Party 2009!! We hope to be able to theme all our 2009 events in keeping with the 20th anniversary where we can celebrate being the first and the best disabled supporters' organisation.
