FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT DOES MUDSA DO?    MUDSA operates on two levels. One level involves the match-to-match organisation of the facilities available to disabled supporters using wheelchairs, visually impaired supporters and ambulatory disabled supporters. The second level involves the work undertaken by the members of the MUDSA Committee which includes producing and organising a magazine, social functions, family events and memorabilia. MUDSA's functions and events are published on the MUDSA website (www.mudsa.org). MUDSA memorabilia can also be ordered from this website and our magazine 'Rollin' Reds' can be requested or downloaded.

WHY DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF MUDSA?    Disabled supporters are asked to become 'One United' members and ensure that their details are listed under the MUDSA Branch name ON THE MEMBERSHIP OFFICE COMPUTER SYSTEM (NOT MUDSA'S)… this is done to ensure that all relevant memberships are gathered together under the one umbrella. The above allows MUDSA and 'One United' to operate more efficiently in meeting the needs of our disabled supporters. It is important to recognise that a proportion of the membership fee MUDSA members pay is returned to MUDSA by Membership Services which helps to financially support the magazine, functions and memorabilia produced by MUDSA.

HOW TO APPLY FOR MATCH TICKETS?    In order to apply for match tickets you must firstly become a 'One United' member. Details of this procedure can be downloaded by clicking this 'How to Join' download. The following further details are disability-specific (wheelchair users, visually impaired people and ambulatory disabled) and you should follow the procedure set out that is relevant to your type of disability.

Wheelchair Users    New applicants for match tickets should make their requests via the relevant phone-in procedure (refer to earlier section, 6.30 pm Phone-in). After an unspecified period of time members who regularly use the phone-in procedure have the opportunity to be placed on a match-place rota. Season tickets are no longer issued as this allocation is fully subscribed. In certain circumstances you may make your application by post or e-mail but the number of places available using this method is restricted to ensure a fair distribution of the available places.

Visually Impaired Supporters    Visually impaired supporters applying for match tickets should make their requests via the relevant phone-in procedure (refer to earlier section, 4.00 pm Phone-in). Please be advised that if you wish to attend a match using an assistance dog you must give as much notice of your intention to do so by informing the MUDSA secretary.

Ambulatory Disabled Supporters    For those unfamiliar with this term it refers to those people with a severe walking disability who cannot sit in an ordinary stand seat but don't yet require a wheelchair to attend a match. In this particular case each applicant should request special ticket application forms which identify a part of the stadium that has been extensively modified to make access easier. Each ambulatory disabled person should use these special application forms to apply for their match tickets; each application form contains the appropriate details for submitting an application. Please note that these tickets are charged for at the normal stand rate. Alternatively, should you have a learning difficulty or other unseen disability you may wish to request application forms specific for certain areas of the stadium with slightly easier access. Please contact the MUDSA Secretary for more details if required.

Easy Access (ambulatory)    For the less severe ambulatory disabled supporter we have succeeded in mapping the areas around the stadium that provide an ease of access that is beneficial to those who have difficulties in climbing stairs etc. Initially, it would be advisable for those with this requirement to contact the MUDSA Secretary for further advice on the procedures to follow when applying for an easy access seat.

Hearing Impaired Supporters    Manchester United has a text telephone in the Ticket Office which can be used by hearing impaired supporters. The number is 0161 868 8668. Please note that induction loop facilities are available at all customer contact points. The tickets a hearing impaired person purchases will be charged at the normal stand rate. Please contact the MUDSA secretary for further information.

Other Disabilities    Manchester United recognizes that there are many other disabilities under the terms of the DDA. In most circumstances the people that fall outside of the categories already mentioned above would be able to sit in an ordinary stand seat and apply for tickets through the normal channels; as such we would ask those individuals to continue using the ordinary application procedures in an effort to ensure that the most appropriate use is made of the facilities that we have. If you would like further clarification about this particular group of disabled supporters then please contact the MUDSA Secretary.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT PARKING ?    Manchester United has the most extensive provision for disabled persons parking at any league stadium in the country. Those with tickets for the wheelchair platform, both home and away supporters, automatically receive a car parking place for the car parks immediately opposite the front of the stadium, in car park E2 (those supporters located in the new North West quadrant will be directed to car par W2). Supplementary disabled persons parking provision is available to supporters with other disabilities. Information relating to this is available on request from the MUDSA Secretary.
